Sunday tea-times

Created by CARLA 9 years ago
Sundays in our house was never dull. Even more longed for than a roast dinner - the piece de resistance was Sunday tea. Gathered around the table the excitement grew in anticipation. Yes there were sandwiches, cheese, chicken corn beef, crisps and pickled onions, Battenburg cake and maybe a lumpy trifle made by mum. But the most important thing, the one thing we waited for - was the appearance of the rabbit!
Wobbling away dad would shake the plate onto which the rabbit lay. Giggles and roars of laughter, poor rabbit you are about to meet your fate. With spoons at the ready, who would get the head, a leg, or it's perfect round tail? All out war - the sweet taste of victory when you got the piece of the rabbit you wanted. Sunday tea-time was never normal in our house, but it is the stuff our memories - that rabbit - a true Legend!
